Pre-Season Predictions, A Look Back

Now that's the season's over, I guess it's time to take a look back. If you were ever interested in holding me accountable for my opinions, this would be the day that you can bring your whoopin' stick. We'll get into playoff previews and predictions in a little while, but for now, it's all about the past baby. Nothing better than not letting go of things you can't change, eh?

My Picks, Western Conference, Sept 28th.

  1. Detroit (116 points)
  2. San Jose (109)
  3. Colorado (104)
  4. Dallas (106)
  5. Minnesota (103)
  6. Anaheim (102)
  7. Vancouver (99)

  9. Calgary (92)
  10. Los Angeles (84)
  11. Nashville (82)
  12. Chicago (76)
  13. Columbus (70)
  14. Edmonton (66)
  15. Phoenix (64)
The actual Western Conference Standings
  1. Detroit (115)
  2. San Jose (108)
  3. Minnesota (98)
  4. Anaheim (102)
  5. Dallas (97)
  6. Colorado (95)
  7. Calgary (94)
  8. Nashville (91)

  10. Chicago (88)
  11. Vancouver (88)
  12. Phoenix (83)
  13. Columbus (80)
  14. St. Louis (79)
  15. Los Angeles (71)

Well, I'm proud to say I hit the nail on the head a few times. It's also worth pointing out that the conference was much tighter top to bottom than I thought it would be. I was ballsy enough to actually pick point totals, and that certainly didn't work out. And on to the east...

My Picks, Eastern Conference, Sept 27th.

  1. Ottawa (115 points) this didn't backfire at all!
  2. Pittsburgh (109)
  3. Atlanta (95)
  4. NY Rangers (106)
  5. New Jersey (93)
  6. Buffalo (93)
  7. Montreal (92)
  8. Tampa Bay (91)
  9. Philadelphia (90)
  10. Toronto (90)
  11. Washington (87)
  12. Carolina (81)
  13. Florida (80)
  14. NY Islanders (74)
  15. Boston (66)
The actual Eastern Conference Standings
  1. Montreal (104)
  2. Pittsburgh (102)
  3. Washington (94)
  4. New Jersey (99)
  5. NY Rangers (97)
  6. Philadelphia (95)
  7. Ottawa (94)
  8. Boston (94)
  9. Carolina (92)
  10. Buffalo (90)
  11. Florida (85)
  12. Toronto (83)
  13. NY Islanders (79)
  14. Atlanta (76)
  15. Tampa Bay (71)

Clearly, picking two southeast teams to make it was asking too much of the division... It's also times like these that I'm glad you guys don't take me seriously and that I'm not a writer of the super serious type... And how about the Islanders beating my expectations? It sure doesn't seem like it the way I talked about them this season... And also, I did pick the division winners in the correct order. That's got to mean something, right? Right?? Crap.

  1. The only way I would take you seriously as a writer is if there were pictures of ice girls.

Just be thankful- you were better than Mirtle in the East and that counts for something right?
