Chicago Signs Brian Campbell to Mega Deal

TSN

Hooboy. The Blackhawks sure are serious about this free agent thing. They've already got Cristobal Huet in the bag today. That's arguably the biggest netminder on the free agent market. Now, TSN reports that they have added one of the high profile forwards on the market.

The Blackhawks have reportedly signed the Red Bearded Wonder, Brian Campbell to an eight-year mega contract. It's worth $56.8 million, which averages out to $7.1 million per year. Obviously, it's probably not evenly dispersed.

So there you have it. Brian Campbell, who recorded a career high 62 points in 83 games last year (yes, eighty three), is now a very wealthy man. He's 29 now and will be 37 when the deal is up. That, my friends, is job security.

And you know what? If this is what Brian Campbell is getting, imagine what Sundin and Hossa will fetch!

  2. I intend to have lots of fun with Chicago's new additions to its existing core of a team.

It would be noce to play after the first weekend in April for a change (what, 1 appearance this century) and contend for a Cup (last won in bloody 1961).

Now taht Dollar Bill is gone (may he rest in peace), the club's thinking seems to have turned to actually all out winning.
