Kansas City is Dying for Hockey
...or so they say. I will remain very skeptical for the time being.
Apologies for the short post, it's been a long day and it's not going to be over for a while.

After all, nothing says hockey like a thoroughly greased mullet.

Analysis, rambling and rants from around the NHL (from guys and gals who are NOT Barry Melrose).

I think that any town that wants a hockey franchise should establish an ice girls team first and based on their quality the NHL either decides to move ahead or not.
ReplyDeleteAfter all, hockey in KC went over so well last time it was tried. Who doesn't have a closet full of Scouts paraphanalia.
ReplyDeleteThe same people who didn't care for hockey in Kansas City now lives in Kansas. Anyway there is no legal parking for the Sprint Arena. Which hockey team would want that? Oh there are none.
ReplyDeleteForget the hockey team, the sprint center will only be served well with a nba team. Nobody in kansas city will go watch hockey, period. Oh and its not exactly a small little hick town in the midwest... I mean it is kansas CITY.
ReplyDeleteSmall city in the Midwest?
ReplyDeleteApperently your not talking about Kansas City, Missouri then. KC is the largest city in Missouri.
Get your facts right man.
If Pittsburgh is big enough for the NHL, then so is Kansas City. While Pittsburgh's metro population is presently a whopping 18% larger than Kansas City's (2,355,712 to 1,985,429), the two markets are headed in opposite directions. Kansas City's metro population has increased by more than 8% since 2000, while Pittsburgh's has decreased by over 3% within the same period. Furthermore, in terms of city proper population, Kansas City is actually larger than Pittsburgh (450,375 to 311,218).
ReplyDeleteP.S. LET'S GO RED WINGS!!!
I really think you should do a quick fact check before writing about thing's you obviously know little about. This post makes you sound like an ignorant asshole. That is all.
ReplyDeleteHow stupid are you? Bringing up the scouts? Do you remember the Rockies? Kansas City is a big city with awful teams. It is growing rapidly and deserves NHL hockey. No one cares about the NBA. Basketball is big here but only for colleges. KC is a blue collar town which head quarters one of the biggest corporations in the world (Sprint). Are you actually saying that cities such as Columbus, Trashville, and New Jersey (who can't even draw 11,000 a night) are more deserving? You don't know anything about hockey or your geographical knowledge of the United States.
ReplyDeleteThe Kansas City Blues were a minor-league hockey team based in Kansas City, Missouri that played in the Central Hockey League from 1967 to 1972, and again in the 1976-77 season, mainly as an affiliate of the in-state St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League. The first incarnation of the KC Blues played their home games at the American Royal Building, while the second incarnation played their home games at Kemper Arena, once the Scouts moved to Denver and became the Colorado Rockies.
